International Study Centres
International Study Centres (ISCs) were formed to cater specifically for students who speak little English yet who are keen to learn so that they can enter UK University programmes later in life. They usually provide an education programme that concentrates on rapidly improving the level of English, in reading, writing, speaking and listening, whilst offering the opportunity to study a number of other academic subjects at the same time.
Many ISCs pride themselves on small class sizes (perhaps fewer than 10 students per teacher), a good range of sporting and social activities and secure accommodation on campus. They all want their students to do well and therefore teacher support is available outside the classroom when necessary.
ISCs usually offer a minimum programme length of one year, with flexible entry dates often at the beginning of each term (September, January and April).
